Vintage foiled paste jar Boxing Hares

£30.00

Fifty years ago these jars were the cheap and cheerful way to buy potted meat paste. Once used they were usually thrown onto the rubbish heap, which explains why so many of them re-emerge today from Suffolk vegetable gardens.

This pretty jar was dug up by a friend who has a huge old rubbish heap at the bottom of her country garden. The years in the earth gives them a kind of pearly luminescence and makes them perfect to recycle as decorative jars and bud vases.

Here I’ve added a delicate pair of boxing hares, dancing within a circle of leaves. Use it as a showcase for buds and flowers or to store make up brushes or pencils on your desk.

Like all my foiled bottles, this one cannot be washed - just blow off any dust or carefully wipe with a damp cloth.

All my bottles are decorated with handcut designs, cut using a tiny scalpel blade.

Dimensions: 9cm tall by 4 cms diameter.
