I love vintage boxes and when I come across them I sometimes refurbish and paint them as commissions.
The lids or interiors are painted and the interiors lined in silk velvet while the wood itself is sanded and polished by hand using beeswax to give it a light sheen.
Harvest Hare was a box painting I made late last year, again inspired by the magic of hares, using acrylic and gold gilt.
